Sports Funding

Our Vision: What we want to achieve?

At Sayes Court we have high expectations of all our pupils and our vision is to provide an outstanding and inclusive curriculum through exciting and engaging teaching and learning, extra-curricular activities and to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. We believe PE and sports play an important and valuable role in making our vision a reality for every child in our school.

Sports Funding: What is it?

The government has provided additional funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013 to 2014 and 2014 to 2015 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departmentfor Education, Health and Culture, Media and sport. This funding was ring-fenced and could therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools, but schools have had the freedom to choose how they did this.

Allocation: What will we receive?

Funding for schools will be calculated by the number of primary aged children (between 5 & 11 years) as at the school census dates. Sayes Court School has received the following sports funding:

May 2018 £7,325
Nov 2017 £10,255
May 2017 £3,700
Nov 2016 £5180
May 2016 £3731
Nov 2015 £5224
May 2015 £3687
Nov 2014 £5163
Dec 2013 £5396

In the academic year 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 we used our sports funding to employ the services of a sports development provider to run regular lunchtime sports sessions throughout the year.

In 2016-2017 we are using a different sports development provider to run a variety of clubs and sessions, with a strong focus on our disadvantaged pupils.
