Our Vision and Ethos

Vision, Ethos, Values, Learning Habits and Pillars of Opportunity

I can, I can, I can

Our vision is for all children to become the very best version of themselves they can be as a result of their time at Sayes Court. We want all children to leave Sayes Court inspired and equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful at the next stage of their education and beyond. We want to support all pupils to develop the confidence and resilience they need to take advantage of the opportunities in, and overcome the challenges of, a changing and ever more competitive world.

Our vision is brought to life by many different elements of our school: our personalised, broad and balanced curriculum; our Values and Learning Habits; our Pillars of Opportunity and Guarantee; and our evaluative, research based approach. All members of the Sayes Court community share the highest expectations of our children, and are determined to deliver nothing but the best. We firmly believe in the power of education to ensure that all children, regardless of their background or ability, become the best they can be.

‘I’m never going to put boundaries on myself. I’m never going to say I can’t do it. I’m never going to say ‘maybe’. I’m never going to say, ‘I don’t think I can.’ I can and I will.’ Nadiya Hussian, Great British Bake Off Winner.

Learning Habits

In order to prepare children as learners, we focus on the development of four learning habits and encourage:

  • Resilience
  • Responsibility
  • Reflectiveness
  • Teamwork

Values

To accompany these learning habits, we focus on the British Values which are taught and encouraged across all aspects of school life.

  • Democracy
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Rule of Law
  • Tolerance

Pillars of Opportunity - The 5 Cs

In order to prepare our children as learners and for future life, we focus on providing opportunities through our Pillars of Opportunity to ensure that every endeavour is made to provide equal access to all children and to build Cultural Capital.

Experiences provided through our Pillars of Opportunity are linked to learning and developing skills and knowledge.  The same rigour applied in refining our curriculum has been applied when deciding on which opportunities to include.  These are recorded in our Sayes Court Passports and form part of our promise and guarantee to all children that they will have access to these opportunities during their seven years at Sayes.
