Understanding how we assess the attainment and progress of your children

Your child’s learning and development is our priority and we are constantly gather evidence about how your child is accessing their learning and making progress against the curriculum objectives. All assessment directly informs next steps, including planning, adaptations, support and interventions.

How do we gather information?

  • Day to day through questioning, observing and marking
  • Half termly assessments in Reading, Writing & Maths
  • Baseline and end of year tests for years 3, 4 and 5.
  • EYFS Baseline and National Standardised Tests at the end of the Key Stage 1 & 2 (SATs)

How do we share this information with you?

We report your child’s progress at various points through the year including Parent Teacher meetings in autumn and spring terms and a final end of year report at the end of every school year. Our staff are always happy to discuss your child’s progress at any time and if you child needs additional support, we will meet with you to discuss the interventions and support your child will receive.

Early Years Foundation Stage

 

At the end of EYFS, the expectation nationally is that children will achieve a Good Level of Development (GLD). To achieve GLD, children must reach the Early Learning Goals (ELG) in the Prime and Specific areas of learning.

KS2 Results

 

Year 4 MTC (Multiplication Tables Check)

The MTC is a statutory fluency check for all year 4 children. Pupils are required to recall their times tables fluently up to 12, through a set of 25 timed questions. In order to achieved the expected standard, children are required to score 25/25.

Year 6 SATs

Attainment (average scaled scores): Children’s results are reported using a scaled score. A scaled score of 100 represents the expected standard for each test. A child achieving a scaled score of 100 or more means they are working at or above the expected standard in the subject. Less than 100 means that they may need more support to reach the expected standard. The highest scaled score possible at KS2 is 120, and the lowest is 80.
