Assemblies
Assemblies & Collective Worship
Our assemblies serve as a vital cornerstone of school life, bringing us together as a whole community to reflect, share, and celebrate. These daily gatherings play a central role in nurturing our shared values, reinforcing positive habits, and building a strong, inclusive culture where every child feels valued, connected, and inspired.
Living Our Values
Each week, one assembly focusses directly on our core school expectations: being Ready, Respectful, and Safe. Through engaging stories and collective reflection, children explore what these behaviours look like in the classroom, on the playground, and in the wider community. We explicitly draw links between these expectations, our PSHE curriculum, and fundamental British values, helping pupils understand how their everyday choices contribute to a harmonious community built on democracy, mutual respect, and individual liberty.
Celebrating Success & The Governor Award
Recognition and positive reinforcement sit at the heart of our weekly celebration assembly. We applaud academic effort through our Learner of the Week certificates, celebrate excellent attendance, and reward positive behaviour and attitudes with Class Dojo certificates. This year, we are excited to introduce the Governor Award. Every half term, one pupil from each class is selected to receive this special honour, highlighting individuals who consistently make positive choices, work hard, and serve as fantastic role models for their peers.
Character Strengths & Inspiring Role Models
In another weekly assembly, we connect our designated character strength for the half term with a significant person from history or modern life who exemplifies that trait. These figures are carefully planned to ensure our pupils see themselves and the wider world reflected in them, incorporating individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, varied religions, and those living with disabilities. By exploring how these remarkable people demonstrated traits like resilience, courage, or empathy, children learn practical ways to apply those same strengths in their own lives.
Class Assemblies
A highlight of our school calendar is always our class assemblies, where pupils take centre stage to share their learning journey. Classes present what they have been discovering across the curriculum to the rest of the school, as well as to their invited parents and carers. These special events provide children with a proud platform to build public speaking confidence, celebrate their collective hard work, and share their joy of learning with their families.
