Residential Trips & Outdoor Adventure
Spending extended periods away from home is one of the most transformative ways to cultivate self-reliance, emotional resilience, and personal growth. Fully aligned with the Ofsted Personal Development framework and DfE enrichment guidance, our progressive residential programme systematically builds pupils' character and confidence, giving them the agency and courage to thrive in new and unfamiliar environments.
Stepping Stones: The Year 3 School Sleepover
To ensure every child feels secure and empowered to step outside their comfort zone, we introduce time away from home through a supportive, familiar 'stepping stone' before embarking on multi-night trips. Year 3 pupils kick off their residential journey with an exciting overnight stay right here at school, packing their sleeping bags and spending the night in their classrooms. The evening is filled with joyful team-building activities, including outdoor treasure hunts, gathering around a campfire, and sharing hot chocolate together before bedtime. This gentle introduction demystifies being away from family overnight, building the vital self-belief and emotional independence needed for longer visits.
PGL Residentials in Years 4 and 6
As pupils progress through Key Stage 2, their horizons expand further through multi-night residential visits with PGL in both Year 4 and Year 6. Staying in rooms alongside their peers teaches children fundamental life skills, from taking responsibility for their own belongings to supporting room-mates and mastering daily self-reliance. Throughout their stay, pupils take part in a wide array of thrilling outdoor pursuits they may never have experienced before, including abseiling, fencing, and canoeing. Tackling these exciting physical challenges encourages children to stretch their limits, persevere through hesitation, and take enormous pride in their shared accomplishments, returning to school self-assured and united as a team.
