Year 4 - Chestnut Class

In year 4 we are going to learn how to be more independent with the support and guidance of our teachers. We are a wonderful class and are very excited to explore our learning journey together. In literacy this year we will be looking at a number of different genres of writing including Story writing, Information Texts, Scripts, Recounts, Persuasion, Reports, Instructions and Poetry, and we will link this to our topics wherever possible. In maths children will be looking at a variety of problems and puzzles in a real life context. We will also be continuing to work hard on our Times Tables up to 12x12 so we will be ready for our MTC (Multiplication tables check) pilot assessment in June. We will face every challenge that comes our way with resilience and cooperation.

We are also looking forward to PSHE, science, history, geography and art. We are enjoying our P.E lessons which are now two lessons per week. This year will be focusing on reading for pleasure and we are enjoying our Friday reading for pleasure sessions. We are aiming for our science lessons to be as practical as possible and as meaningful to everyday life as we can. We are looking forward to some really interesting experiments related to electricity , sound and states of matter.
